About Lara Mobile Homes: Factory-Direct Manufactured Homes
Lara Mobile Homes is a vertically-integrated manufactured home company that builds, delivers, and installs single-wide and double-wide mobile homes across all 48 contiguous United States. Our factory-direct model passes manufacturing savings directly to buyers. The 10 floor plans in our current catalogue run from $38,900 to $139,900, with single-section homes starting at $38,900 and multi-section homes at $87,500. Those prices are for the home; site preparation, transport and set-up depend on your location and are quoted separately.
Every manufactured home we produce is built to the HUD Code — the Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards at 24 CFR Part 3280, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It is a federal standard that pre-empts state and local building codes, and it covers design, strength and durability, transportability, fire resistance, energy efficiency and the plumbing, heating and electrical systems. The date that matters is 15 June 1976, when the standard took effect: homes built before it are legally mobile homes and are much harder to finance and insure than homes built after it. The FAQ explains the HUD Code, certification labels and data plates in detail.
Delivery is heavy-haul work rather than ordinary freight. Manufactured home sections are typically 14 to 18 feet wide against a standard legal load width of 8 feet 6 inches, so every move needs oversize permits from each state on the route, usually pilot or escort vehicles, and a route survey covering bridge clearances, turning radii and overhead lines. See how transport permits, escorts and site access work.
Installation covers site preparation and footings below the frost line, placing and levelling the home on a pier-and-anchor system or a permanent foundation, joining the sections of a multi-section home at the mating line, completing the utility crossovers, anchoring sized to the home's wind zone, and finishing with skirting, steps and final inspection.
